Christmas Thought
Well it’s 4:44pm on Friday 23rd December and I have made my last visit to the shops before Christmas Day. It’s normally at this time that I start thinking about everything that’s coming up and hope that I have got it all covered.
I love Christmas on so many levels - a time of giving and receiving gifts, getting together with family and friends to enjoy some yummy food and the chance to take it slower for a few days. On the whole I find that everyone is in a happy mood at Christmas so it makes for fun times together.
With all of this in mind there is a part to Christmas that is so important to our family. That part is a BIG part and the part is Jesus. It can be so easy for Jesus to get lost amongst all the fun and celebration and that’s why I write this post. Our prayer for you is that you will make Jesus a priority this Christmas. We reflect and celebrate the birth of our Saviour - not a baby, not a good man but our Saviour! This blows my mind each time I think about it.
There have been times throughout 2011 that I have not felt worthy of this Saviour but here is one thing I know to be true: Jesus is is not interested in my peformance he is interested in me! This gets me everytime. So many people in life want me for their gain and what they can get from me but Jesus says that apart from my performance he loves and accepts me. WOW - this never grows old.
At the time of Jesus birth a light shone in the sky for all to see but only 3 men chose to follow this light which led them to Jesus. This Christmas there is a light shining so bright - a light that offers a hope and a future, a light that comforts and guides, a light that wipes out your past and establishes in you a bright new future. All that’s required is for us to follow after the light. What will you do this Christmas? I pray you make a choice to follow the light!
Have a blessed Christmas with your family and friends.
Much love
Josh & Sharon Brett
