Insight currently supports three sustainable projects. Most of Insight's fundraising goes towards these projects.
Maranatha Health, Uganda
Based in Kabarole, Uganda, Maranatha Health was founded by Adelaide graduate Dr Michael Findlay, a health science graduate with an interest in public health, and his wife Kimberley, an international development professional. Maranatha Health operates a best-practice paediatric clinic, a highly effective village health education and advocacy program that focuses on the social determinants of health, including education and sanitation, and a health clinic capacity building program to support other clinics to improve their service delivery. We commit $4000 per year to their cause.
Cambodia World Family Project
Insight commenced support of the Cambodia World Family Project, a dental initiative, in 2009 through the introduction of the Amazing Raise to the Insight events calendar. The CWF is run by a Perth-based dentist who provides a dental service to institutionalised and disadvantaged children, such as orphans and those with HIV. Since 2013, we also select BDS and BOH students to join Dr Ogle in volunteering in Cambodia.
Kompiam, Papua New Guinea
Insight has a longstanding association with Kompiam, Papua New Guinea through Dr David Mills, the superintendent of the medical practice. Sixth year students are currently able to spend four weeks on elective at the practice. Insight maintains a $4000 per year contribution to Kompiam. The current money is being used to fund the construction of accommodation and other facilities at the Lapalama outposting, to further expand the reach of the practice.
